How Employ Zongo handles your data
Employ Zongo (Zongo Professionals Hub) is run by Change for Zongo Youth. This page explains, in plain terms, what we store and who can see it.
What we store
- Your account details: name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- The profile details you choose to add: headline, region, phone, years of experience, bio, skills, languages and LinkedIn link.
- Your CV file, kept in private storage that is not publicly reachable.
- Your job matches, alerts and the applications you make through the site.
- What happened with your applications and any job you tell us you got (title, employer, start date), plus your answers to our 3- and 6-month check-ins. We use these to improve the service and report totals to funders and partners. We never share your name without asking you first.
- Your email choices: whether you want job alerts (and which job types and regions), whether you agreed to news emails and when, and which jobs we have already emailed you.
Emails we send
- Job alerts (professionals): a short digest of new jobs that fit the skills on your profile, daily or weekly, and only when there is something new. You can switch them off at sign-up or any time.
- News and opportunities: programme updates, events and partner openings. We only send these if you tick the box to ask for them.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can change your choices in Privacy & settings (or Account for recruiters). Emails are delivered for us by Resend, an email delivery service, which receives your name and email address only to send them.
Who can see it
- By default, nobody but you. New profiles are hidden from recruiters.
- If you switch on Visible to recruiters, registered recruiters can see your name, headline, region, experience, skills, languages, bio, email and LinkedIn link. Your phone number is never shown to recruiters.
- If you also switch on Allow CV download, those recruiters can download your CV. Each download link expires after 60 seconds, and each recruiter can download at most 30 CVs a day.
- Every recruiter account is checked by the Employ Zongo team before it can search profiles or publish jobs. Every profile a recruiter opens and every CV they download is recorded, so misuse can be traced. Your CV page shows how many times your CV has been downloaded.
- A small number of Employ Zongo administrators can see account details to run the service and remove misuse.
Your choices
You can change any visibility setting at any time in Settings. Turning visibility off removes you from recruiter search straight away. You can delete your CV from the CV page. You can delete your whole account at any time from Privacy & settings (or Account for recruiters), using Delete my account. This permanently removes your profile, CV file, matches, alerts, applications, email choices and login.
Job scams
Employers with the Verified employer badge have been checked by the Employ Zongo team: we confirm their registration, a real address, that the recruiter works there, and look for scam reports. The badge lowers the risk; it doesn't remove it.
Genuine employers never ask you to pay to apply, for training, for a medical or to secure a job. Recruiter posts are checked before they go live, and every job has a report button. If you see a job that asks for money, report it and don't pay.
Jobs from other sites
Some listings come from other job sites (Himalayas, Jobicy, ReliefWeb and Jooble) or directly from employers' own careers pages. We only show the ones people in Ghana can apply for: jobs based in Ghana, and remote jobs open to Ghana, Africa or worldwide. Each one says where it came from. When you apply, you are taken to that site or the employer's page, and their privacy terms apply there. We don't send them your profile or CV.
